granite and mycena dot necklaces

This collection of necklaces is inspired by my hiking adventures in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I am forever amazed at the colors I see on the trail. Bright orange mushrooms, florescent green lichen and black lichen accent granite colored rocks. No matter how many hikes I take, I find something new and magical. The journey isn't only about getting to the summit, every step I take on the trail brings me towards a new, beautiful adventure, full of details to enjoy.

My dot collection is made by sifting crushed glass onto a dapped disc of fine silver. Once the surface is well coated I torch fire the disc to fuse the crushed glass to the silver creating an even surface. I repeat the process until the surface of the silver is well covered in a rich hue. After I solder a bail to the pendants I clean them to a shine, string them on hand cut chain and solder on a handmade clasp. The necklace is on a 16 inch chain, the pendant is about half an inch round.
