Back in August of 2015 I put a backpack on and hiked up two mountains. We set up camp at 4315' and tucked ourselves into our sleeping bags for the night, hoping the rain would stop by morning so we could watch the sunrise. Under dark, but clear skies we emerged from our tarp, wrapped ourselves in our sleeping bags and walked to the summit of the mountain. We sat on the edge and watched the sun rise, through the undercast, behind seemingly endless mountains. We witnessed the start of a new day, the sun emerged in a fiery red, faded to pink, burst to orange and a golden yellow, it turned the sky green before the sky returned to blue. Silently we all took in the beauty before us, each cheering on the sun and thanking it for its spectacular show. Knowing we would never see this same work of art again we started our day, warmed by the glow of the sun. On the way down these two mountains and in the days that followed I knew the sunrise would burn itself into my memory, forever inspiring me, willing me to capture it, to find a way to keep it with me. A few months later, I found a way to keep this moment of beauty close to my heart...
There are three pendants which make up this necklace, a golden brass sun nestled between two textured pieces of silver. One piece of silver is hazy, like the undercast I stood above as I watched the sunrise. The other looks rocky, like the tops of the mountains before us and under our feet. Each piece symbolizes a part of this day I hope never to forget. They are 5mm small, representing how small one feels in the middle of the mountains and hang on a sterling silver chain with a handmade clasp.
Please choose either 16" or 18" for your chain length. If you need another size feel free to contact me (there may be an additional charge).
I hope you enjoy this necklace as much as I do. To read more on this adventure click here.
